CIS 360: Midterm Review

Date: March 14th @ 7PM to 9:45

Format: 20 short answer at 4 points each.  Two long answers (similar to lab questions) at 10 points each.

• Describe Entity, Attribute, Relationships (1-1, 1-M, M-M)
• Describe Primary Key, Foreign Key, Candidate Key, Compound or Composite Key.
• Update, Insertion, and Deletion Anamolies.
• Oracle Data Types
• Write/Debug SQL DML Commands: SELECT, INSERT, DELETE, UPDATE
• Describe NULL Value
• Forms of Normalization, reasons for normalizing.
• Issues with working with Dates and Times.
• Alias at all levels: column, table, etc.
• JOINS:  SQL 92 Standard joins.  Inner, Outer Joins, Cross (Cartesian).
• SQL Functions
• Sub Queries, Any, All, In, Set Operations (UNION, INTERSECT, MINUS)
• Translate, Decode, Case, Rollup, Cube, Grouping
• SQL Transactions: ROLLBACK, COMMIT, SAVEPOINT
• CREATE / ALTER / DROP Tables, Sequences, Views, and Indexes
• Constraints: CHECK, UNIQUE KEY.
• Schema vs. User.
